Massimo De Carlo VSPACE: a virtual gallery in real-time 3D
VSPACE is the virtual exhibition space of Massimo De Carlo, the contemporary art gallery founded in 1987. Wide VR conceived and built it in 2020: a gallery space in real-time 3D, developed in WebGL, that visitors explore directly in the browser, with no downloads, moving freely between the works as they would in a physical show.
Between September 2020 and April 2023 Wide VR produced all 16 VSPACE exhibitions, from Inner Realm, with works by Jennifer Guidi, Wyatt Kahn, Brooklin Aboubakar Soumahoro, Lucy Bull and Ugo Rondinone, to shows such as Night Owl, Lead, Golden Rose by Monster Chetwynd and Highly Educated Secular Salamaders R us.
The exhibitions are still online on the Massimo De Carlo website: explore the VSPACE archive.
In May 2020 Artribune interviewed Wide VR as the startup behind the Massimo De Carlo Virtual Space: read more in our Logbook.
